Respiratory self-management course

This course is an ideal follow-on for anyone who has a long-term respiratory condition and has attended the Whakamana Hauora self-management course.
The session will cover a broad range of topics relating to long term respiratory conditions. Course content will be tailored to the specific needs of the group, but topics may include: breathing, fatigue levels and energy conservation, medications, resources available to help, keeping well, asthma and COPD.
Venue is Manaia PHO, 28-30 Rust Ave, Whangarei.

Whakamana Hauora is a self-management course for people with long-term health conditions.
It runs for 2.5 hours one day per week, for 6 weeks (this block starts Tuesday 23 August and runs until Tuesday 27 September, 10am to 12.30pm).
Venue is Manaia PHO, 28-30 Rust Ave, Whangarei
Whanau and caregivers of people with long-term health conditions are welcome to attend too. Support with transport can be provided if needed.

Background
My background is in nursing and I have worked mainly in psychiatry.
I worked in health roles for 15 years in South Australia and returned to Northland in 2000. On arrival, I worked for Northland District Health Board as a Community Mental Health Nurse. From there, I became Team Manager of Community Mental Health and Addictions. I held this role for 11 years before leaving to work in primary health in 2015.
