BA Psychology, Master of Counselling, MNZAC

After 18 years working as a counsellor, I am now working from a home office in Parua Bay. My vision is to be a resource in the Whangarei Heads community. It seems to me to be a privilege to walk alongside people for a very small part of their life journey and see them grow in kindness and compassion towards themselves and others.

Whangarei Primary and Community Nursing Model of Care

During 2015/2016, consultation occurred with primary and secondary healthcare nurses and consumers about the future model of nursing in the community. As a consequence a new model emerged which has recently been sanctioned as one of the components of the Neighbourhood Healthcare Homes change process. In 2017, the new model will commence in Whangarei as the first ‘tranche’ and rolled out to the rest of Northland over the next few years.

It is a partnership between the Northland DHB, Manaia Health PHO and Te Tai Tokerau PHO. The aim of the NHH programme is to ensure general practice services can meet future demands on an already stretched system.
