Community Outcomes

Manaia Health PHO shares the same population and geographical boundaries as the Whangarei District Council.  In recognition of the influence the Whangarei District Council has on the determinants of health we have been working to develop partnerships with the WDC.  Submissions have been made on the Long Term Council Community Plan and the 2005 Annual Plan.  We are currently involved at various levels, with several collaborative projects with the WDC:

• 10,000 Steps Northland; aiming to get Northlanders active through walking, of which WDC is a major Shareholder.
• Tikipunga Community Gardens project.
• Community web based directory of which the WDC is a major sponsor.
• Gambling Focus Group.
• WHO Safe Community Initiative.
