I am a general and psychiatric trained nurse of twenty eight years. I have worked in differing areas of health care both secondary and primary. I have skills and expertise in both management and clinical practice more recently my work has been as an Autonomous Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care where I was able to utilise –among others - my independent prescribing and x-ray requesting skills. It has been my work as an Autonomous Nurse Practitioner that has allowed me to truly care for the individual presenting in a holistic manner, being able to assess, diagnose, treat and discharge/refer patients with mental health and physical/social problems making a seamless system of care more of a positive experience for the patient.
My experiences, insights and clinical skills may help to contribute in leading positive changes for Manaia PHO.
