COAG (Community Advisory Group)
This committee has a significant role in Manaia Health PHOs governance and operation.
The current committee was appointed in April 2006 and is nearing the end of their 3 year term. The Board of Manaia Health PHO is currently inviting applications from people who have a commitment to and strong links with their local community (or communities) to become members of COAG (application details below).
Manaia Health PHO takes seriously its requirement to engage with and involve its community in governing processes and be responsive to the community.
COAG is made up of 12 members each of whom have been selected by a 'community group' within the district. There are four positions reserved for appointees of the PHO Māori Shareholder "Terenga Paraoa Ltd". Two members of COAG are appointed to the PHO Board.
The objectives of COAG are:
- To assist Manaia Health PHO in promoting the health and wellbeing of the community;
- To promote greater awareness of the work of Manaia Health PHO in the community;
- To assist Manaia Health PHO to be responsive to community needs and views;
- To promote improved relationships between Manaia Health PHO and other relevant agencies; and
- To advise the Manaia Health PHO Board and management on issues relevant to the health and wellbeing of the PHO population and related primary health services.
COAG meets on a monthly basis.
