Chlamydia Trachomatis Screening Project
The aim of this project was to reduce the asymptomatic pool of CT infections for young people in the high priority, 24 year old and under age group, within Manaia PHO boundaries. This project was co-ordinated by Manaia Health’s Nursing Integration Leader and was externally evaluated by Auckland University’s School of Population Health.
The project consisted of three key components:
* To provide outreach opportunistic screening, treatment and follow up for the target group of sexually active Maori males aged 24 or under – this outreach service is provided by Hauora Whanui.
- To develop a social marketing campaign
- To enhance existing services offering Chlamydia screening to young people.
