Maureen Tearle Counsellor - Bach of Social Practice: Counselling; MNZAC

I work at the Anglican Care Centre, 1b Deveron Street, Whangarei - contact office phone 437 6397.

I trained as a Registered Nurse then later completed my counselling training.  For the last 16 years I have worked with people with mental health issues, 8 of these as a counsellor.  I was also a volunteer working at the Abuse and Trauma Centre dealing with sexual abuse.  I worked for Dayspring Trust in West Auckland before relocating to Whangarei in June 2015.

I have been working at the Anglican Care Centre for the last year.  I enjoy working with children and teenagers as well as adults.  Relationship issues are also an area of interest.

I really enjoy working with people and helping them to create new stories in their lives.  I counsel on a number of issues including anxiety, depression, grief & loss, trauma, relationship issues, stress and PTSD.

The therapies I find most helpful are Narrative Therapy and Interactive Drawing Therapy (IDT) but I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Imago Relationship Therapy, and Emotional Focusing Therapy (EFT).
