Mandy Chapman-Smith

I am a mother of four grown up children, and worked as a registered nurse in a medical practice for a number of years before retraining as a Counsellor.  I now work in private practice, Hope Anchor Counselling Services.  This is my 6th year post grad.  I absolutely love my job.

As a counsellor I have worked at Youthline, Rubicon, One Double Five Community House and Te Hau Awhiowhio O Otangarei Health Care Centre before being fulltime in private practice.

Areas commonly worked with are depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma and relationship issues.

I work with people of all ethnicities, adults and teenagers, male and female.

In my work I aim to create a safe space for my clients to bring whatever they want to the session and to work alongside them in a non-judgmental way to help them reach the goals that they set.

There are various modalities I use in the counselling process, such as, Client Centered Approach, Cognitive Behavioural therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Interactive Drawing therapy and Emotionally Focused Couple therapy.
