Qualifications
RN, PGCert (Intensive Care Nursing), MBA (Otago)
Background
My many years of nursing in New Zealand and overseas include ten years of nursing in the Intensive Care Units in Whangarei and Auckland, including flight nursing. Other roles I have held are with ACC which involved social rehabilitation and assessments in the community, and managing a residential care facility for two years prior to commencing my current role with Northland PHO Services in 2009.
Present Role
In 2009 I commenced the set-up and development of the new Primary Options Programme in Northland (POPN). The key goal of POPN is to reduce hospital admissions by enabling access to specified treatments in primary care. Key objectives of the service include ensuring POPN is offered equitably to Maori and non-Maori, supporting culture and practice changes required to reduce the levels of acute admissions, and being cost-effective.
